This particular station is actually two stations that simulcast on 1650 AM. The second station is located in North Bend, WA and both are fed by a signal on 72.92 MHz (a "link" transmitter) that controls the 2 stations for simulcast purposes, the audio must be in sync. The RF frequency is controlled by a GPS disciplined frequency source which watches the US GPS constellation for frequency accuracy and a single source of frequency stability. 


It produces a 2 tone control signal to turn on a number of sign post flashing lights that alert the driving public of an emergency and urge them to tune to the station for emergency messages.
